The kids are on the couch playing video games, Dad is watching football while responding to work emails, and Mom is busy doing all things Moms do.

How can you re-connect as a family? If the challenge is finding an activity that everyone can enjoy, the solution might be closer than you think. Read on to learn some creative ways Hawaii Fluid Art classes can help build stronger bonds with your spouse and children.

The Importance of Family Time

Participating in activities with your family members has many benefits. For example, children who regularly eat meals with their families ted to develop healthy eating habits, and those who exercise with their families make physical fitness a lifelong priority. Additional benefits of family time include:

  • Builds self-esteem — Spending quality time with loved ones makes children more self-confident because they can sense that their parents value them.
  • Creates bonds — Stronger family bonds make it easier for families to handle stressful situations.
  • Nurtures positive behaviors — Loved ones influence kids, so they develop positive behaviors, such as performing better in school and avoiding negative influences, such as drugs and alcohol.
  • Creates memories — Children share more about their lives during family time than if you simply ask them “What happened in school today?”
  • Relieves stress — If you’ve been following our blogs, you already know about the therapeutic benefits of art. Family time magnifies those benefits for kids by giving them the opportunity to chat with loved ones about their concerns.

Fluid Art: Fun for All Ages

Age is no barrier to creating beautiful artwork. Even a two year old can produce a masterpiece at Hawaii Fluid Art. It’s fun and hassle-free for the whole family. Check out the video below of a mom and her three young sons enjoying a family day at our Kansas City studio. We love the big “reveal” when they proudly display their artwork in their own home. It is such a special way to commemorate the time they spent together.

Don’t forget to include your elderly parents who may be especially prone to loneliness. We recently met a man from Dallas who creates fluid art paintings with his sister and their 102 year old mother every Saturday. It’s their special bonding time, and over the years they have created literally hundreds of paintings together.

Go Beyond the Canvas

Although many of our students love to create acrylic pour paintings on canvases, we also offer a wide variety of other activities to suit every taste–from Resin Beach Scenes to Resin Tumblers to Glass and Rock Painting. Dad can even paint his electric guitar, and Mom can make a one-of-a-kind charcuterie board. Tell us your vision and our skilled instructors will help you bring it to life.

Hawaii Fluid Art’s mission is to inspire and nurture the human spirit, one painting at a time.
