How Hawaii Fluid Art Enhances the Lives of Older Adults

American novelist Margaret Deland said,

“As soon as you feel too old to do a thing, do it.”

At Hawaii Fluid Art, we understand the revitalizing power of art. In fact, I began my career helping people with brain injuries delve into their artistic talents. This led me to develop a proprietary method of fluid art using acrylic paint and a special pouring medium. The demand for my classes grew, and Hawaii Fluid Art was born as our reach rapidly spread from my first studio in Waikoloa, Hawaii to locations across the U.S. — and soon expanding to Canada.

Art Classes for Older Adults

Our instructors enjoy working with senior centers, retirement communities and memory care facilities. Looking at or making art can help patients with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia feel calmer and more engaged. In a broader sense, art classes help all older adults improve their memory, daily life skills and mental health.

The Benefits of Making Art

Art provides many benefits, including:

  • Reduces feelings of anxiety, depression and stress
  • Stimulates senses to become sharp and more active
  • Helps divert focus and free time to something productive
  • Fosters self esteem and self awareness
  • Cultivates emotional resilience

Our group classes also help increase socialization and build healthy relationships. We offer classes on site in our studios or off site at your facility. In either case, we take care of all the supplies, setup and cleanup.

Hawaii Fluid Art’s mission is to inspire and nurture the human spirit, one painting at a time.
