Summer is the perfect time to explore new ways of expressing yourself — and splash and splatter painting offers a fun and creative way to do just that. At Hawaii Fluid Art, you can let your imagination run free as you throw, spray or squirt paint on large canvases to create breathtaking masterpieces.

Unlike other types of visual art, splatter painting celebrates spontaneity, improvisation and a highly physical approach to making art. It requires no formal training, just a playful spirit!

Capturing Energy and Movement

One of the world’s most famous abstract expressionist painters, Jackson Pollock, saw the act of dripping paint as a way to capture the energy and movement of the world around him. Pollock’s splatter painting technique was a key part of his artistic vision. The technique also allowed him to create works that were truly unique and groundbreaking. As he once said, “It doesn’t make much difference how the paint is put on as long as something has been said. Technique is just a means of arriving at at statement.”

Speaking of Technique…

Not all of our Hawaii Fluid Art studios offer splash and splatter painting experiences, but those that do, offer a variety of techniques. For example, you can create different effects by standing closer to or farther away from the canvas as you fling your paint. Standing farther away creates smaller splatters, while standing closer lets you make larger splashes of color.

Squirt guns are another fun way to create unique works of art. You can even upgrade to a black light experience that uses glow-in-the-dark paints. Can you think of a more engaging family fun night or team-building activity?

A Mess You Don’t Have to Clean Up

In splash and splatter painting, splatter refers to the particles of liquid created by splashing paint onto canvas. Splatter ends up on the floor and ceiling of our specially designed splatter rooms.

It’s messy, hassle-free fun. And, best of all, you don’t have to worry about cleaning up. We take care of that for you. You just show up, suit up, pick your paint colors, and have a blast!

Hawaii Fluid Art’s mission is to inspire and nurture the human spirit, one painting at a time.
